Maya of Japan, Holland, Panama, New York, and England, is a sophomore studying History, International Relations, and Art.
Maya enjoys water color, sewing her own clothes, embroidery for friends and experimental cooking.She is an avid listener of Motown, reads mystery novels by the likes of Joyce Carol Oates, and used to play cello and piano.
She is passionate about human rights, specifically in the treatment of immigrants and refugees in the United States, where immigration remains a hot-button issue, England, where the plight of refugees made daily news during her study there, and Japan, where immigration is commonly opposed and refugees remain a nonissue. She is keen on addressing these issues with Horizon and heads a team working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
